In loving Memory

VaLoise Petersen Sorensen, 84, passed away April 12, 2012, at the Bear River Valley Care Center in Tremonton, Utah. VaLoise was born February 22, 1928, in Fielding, Utah, to loving parents, Cladius Niels Petersen and Jane Elma Christensen Petersen. She married her sweetheart Clyde in the Logan Temple on September 22, 1948. VaLoise grew up in Fielding and when she was a young girl ready to enter elementary school she asked her mother to teach her something before she started because she said she felt dumb. But as she was educated she proved herself to be just the opposite. She involved herself in many school activities and had many friends. While at Bear River High School she became very involved in the school orchestra playing the french horn. She studied very hard and graduated in 1946 with a 4.0 gpa. After graduating from high school VaLoise worked at the Valley Doctors Clinic as a nurse. She always wanted to be a nurse. But that was as close as she got. That is where she met Clyde. He had just returned from Japan. They had good times together going to dances, parties, movies, picnics, and church. He was always a gentleman and treated her the way a boy should treat a girl. They dated for two years before they were married. The Church has always been the center of mom's life. She always enjoyed her service in the church. It has been a blessing to her and has also been an education. She has grown from the experiences she has had. She has held many positions, in the church; M-Men and Gleaner Ward and Stake positions, Primary and Sunday School teacher, Primary, Y.W.M.I.A. and Relief Society Presidents, Stake Young Women's Counselor, Relief Society Visiting teacher, Genealogy teacher, and Librarian Assistant in the Branch Genealogy Library. She served two missions with her sweetheart. One was in the Church Unemployment office and the other was proselyting in the Kenya Nairobi Mission. They also spent many years working in the Churches Genealogical Library. It was important to mom to serve in the community and be involved in the affairs of our land. She was very active in her voting precinct. Valoise is survived by children, Marlene Sorensen (daughter in law), Janet (Doug) Misrasi, Diane (Ron) Crump, Craig (LaDawn) Sorensen, Seth (Jan) Sorensen, Bryce (Kathy) Sorensen, Nolan (Teri) Sorensen, and Kenny John. Siblings, Claine (Irene) Petersen, Glen (ReVoe) Petersen, Arlene (Ferris) Macfarlane, Norman (Margueritte) Petersen, and Marie (Milton) Bywater. 40 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clyde, her son, Lynn, and her sister Bernice. The family would like to thank the community Nursing Hospice Team for their services and all other doctors and nurses at the Bear River Valley Care Center for the love and care they gave mom. Especially the aides that attended to her needs the last few weeks. She loved everyone of your and appreciated your hard work and compassionate service.
